MM Links April [Week 4]
50 Answers
Good Morning all AB-Linkers! This is Lady Lysander bidding her last farewell with the MM Challenge for Week 4. I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone. I am so pleased that I agreed to set the Links; it's been great fun!
For the local bowling enthusiasts, the opening of the Outdoor Green Playing Season has been postponed because of the weather. I must emphasise that I use the word "play" light-heartedly, because my friends and I are very much "beginners". This will only be our second year as members and two elderly gentlemen (i.e. slightly older than we) are have taken us under their wing. The setting is beautiful, looking towards the same view I described from the Car Boot Sale. Playing bowls is a lovely gentle sport and I am hoping for a sunny warm spell of weather to enjoy another season.
To be honest, I have played Indoor Carpet Bowls much longer and take that game far more seriously. My branch of the Women's Institute has won the County Championship twice. Two years ago, a neighbouring W.I. phoned me to ask if we had a spare player as one of their team was ill. Knowing I was the weakest player in our group, I said I would be happy to play for them. Imagine my dismay when we reached the final to find myself playing my fellow members and beat them! At the next WI meeting I wore a placard with "TRAITOR" written on it, but I said I wasn't prepared to shave my head!
