We are still trying to solve our British Place Names Quiz, so are picking your brains again!
We still have no answer for the following clue:
1) Cereal Bar
We have tried it as an anagram, but can't come up with anything and have thought of all alternatives to cereal (bran, oats, corn, barley etc), but no luck.
Also we have answers for the following but are not completely happy with them, so would appreciate any ideas. 2) Nasty marks (possibly Deepcut? The clue being plural put us off though) 3) Oriental bacon (we think this could be Eastham?)
We have two answers for the following two. Any thoughts on which might be best?
4) Code of football - either Sheffield or Cambridge?? 5) Settee - either Chesterfield or Davenport??
Nasty marks - surely Staines
Oriental Bacon - probably East Ham (two words)
Settee - prefer Chesterfield (where's Davenport?!)
Code of Football - surely its Rugby isnt it?
Still working on Cereal Bar!
The only thing I keep thinking about for Cereal Bar is Market Rasen, but not sure how the market bit ties in!
Agree re Staines and East Ham, also Chesterfield (believe although Davenport is a sofa its more commonly used as a type of desk). Think Cambridge Rules re football code. Haven't really brought anything new to the table, but sometimes it just helps to have someone agree with your answers!
oldernowiser - Thanks for coming up with Staines - we hadn't thought of that. Davenport is in Cheshire btw.
Can you tell us why you thought Rugby for Code of Football?
methyl - Best answer so far, but how does burn fit?
Thank again. Anymore ideas would be much appreciated.
Try Reigate for cereal bar ie Rye Gate Staines is correct. Chesterfield is correct. Not sure about football one. could be Rugby but that is not a literal answer. will think on that one. Cheers monkeymum.l
