Same answer, different crossword

I am puzzled because quite often the same answer (eg "pupa"), and virtually the same clue, appears in different crosswords within a few days of each other.

Why is this? Do the setters work for more than one newspaper? The time lag is normally short, so they can't really be copying each other, I would have thought.

I have noticed that on The Weakest Link some questions from the crosswords I do come up about a week or so later. Anyone else noticed this? I do the Mail on Sunday, Sunday Express Magazine and The Big Monday Express crosswords.

I must make it clear that I don't have any objection to this happening, I just wondered why?

mipth: I agree that the computer is a great window on the world. I am nearly 84, house bound, and a little deaf, so I rely on it a lot to communicate with others. It's great! And I don't have any objection at all to people discussing crossword and quizz answers either and quite often post anwers for them.

sannox: I don't now watch The Weakest Link, unless someone I know is on it, but yes, I had noticed the phenomenon you mention. I don't like the way they vote off the person who is likely to beat them though!
