This clue is wrong. The given answer is Borodino but the correct answer should be Leipzig. Borodino was the largest single-day -- repeat, single-day -- battle of the Napoleonic wars (which Kate omitted) but Leipzig, fought the following year, involved twice the number of troops over more than one day and is regarded as the biggest battle fought in Europe before world war one.

this quibble apart, i thought today's was one of the best general knowledge xwords for a long time. covered a lot of ground.
I have Beresina because it fits in with carp [4d] and Dan Dare [6d] is this wrong pls ?
S should be a d in underworld?
Bersina doesn't fit with 5d though - Underworld and Dan Dare is correct
