Throw 'em next door or feed to thrushes. They -the birds- are starving from lack of food.

Fill small plastic trays/tubs with weak beer - the snails crawl in and drown. Place crushed egg shells around vulnerable plants. You could also try copper wire around plantpots - have never done this but the beer one is very
good. Bags of salt are good - try hunting snails when it's dusk and damp and simply put the snails into the salt bag
