It would be helpful though bryher if you were to put the correct clue so that others can have a go at answering if nobody who has done the crossword is around at the time you ask the question.

Yes, sorry, should have made myself clearer. Yes, I was thinking about please/plea. You see, there may be a time when those who have not done the crossword will be trying to help and will see the possibility of an anagram but will not find it easily if the correct clue is not given. TUCS and PLEA together with the last letter of arguable E, make up the anagram of speculate, where PLEASE may only mislead. I know you have your answer quickly here, and may get answers quickly always, but it is best to help others help you by giving the correct clue.
