I've just seen macpark's good news (congratulations to him/her).
Three or four weeks ago I received a copy of "The Daily Telegraph Giant General Knowledge Crossword Book 6" in the post and right out of the blue. Nothing else was included in the envelope.
Can any ABers confirm that this could be a runners up prize for something?

Runners up usually receive 'Whitaker's Almanac Pocket book' and a congratulatory letter.. plus your name appears in the followig week's edition under prize winners. I was runner up once, but alas, nothing since.. I keep trying though

I can't halp on that, but coincidentally the same sort of thing happened to a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago.

She received a new copy of the Concice Oxford Dictionary from the Oxford University Press via DHL. The "invoice" included said

"Ref: Cryptic Sun 15 June"

But she had not entered any puzzles with the COD as a prize and here name never appeared as a winner of any crosswors she regularly enters.
