If the first part is still the fruit I can't find reference anywhere to an alternative second half of word.

Apologies - too early in the morning!!!
I jumped in without too much thought and I see that julifer was giving the clue for 39d.
So my 22d answer is correct.
Hope this makes sense that I am only stuck with 21a.

Think I'll go back to bed.

Thanks sarumite. All sorted now. In between waiting for a reply I used a message from AB to change my all electric house from supplier EDF to Scottish Power. Never thought I would desert the old SWEB but finally driven to it. Now got a saving of �150 per year.
Don't know if this will get printed as its a sort of an advert but I'm chuffed anyway!!!!!
