24d Showjumping high-jump event; the world record of eight feet one and a quarter inches by Hujaso and Alberto Larraguibel remains unbeaten since 1949.
The answer given by Kate is "puissance".
I quote WikipediA: "The high jump world record should not be confused with the puissance world record. The puissance is a series of bricks built as a wall rather than angled poles as used in the high jump ...;the current indoor puissance world record stands at seven feet ten inches and was set in 1991 in Chaudfontaine, Belgium, by German rider Franke Sloothaak on Leonardo."
Huaso certainly set the high jump record but NOT the puissance.
Over to you, Kate ...

Illimani 21,004
Maybe some have shrunk and some have grown - do mountains suffer from osteroporosis (petroporosis?!) or growth spurts? :-)
sincnoel, you are quite right to differentiate between Show-jumping and Puissance. My wife's great-grandfather set the, then in 1909 at Olympia, record high jump record with a jump of 7' 2 1/2". When he asked for the bar to be raised by 6 inches Lord Lonsdale, officiating, said No, you have already won, to raise it and then jump it would only to be to show off!
