And why is Digit applied to transcendental number TOE I realise a toe is a digit but the rest?

Only just sunk in that a flag and iris are same flower had been thinking along lines of "to flag" tire or "flag" as in pennant or to wave but had not got to flower. Was also stuck into groove of iris as part of eye. Oooh well with a little help from my friends..
