Naught(y) or nought(y) ? Both look valid to me (ie. all four words in the SOED). What would you favour, the 'A' or the 'O' ?

I would say naught (nothing)....bad = naughty, detailed/without the last letter
naught(y) = bad
This is a very good question . Wonder if the compiler realised it . You point out that all four words are in SOED ; noughty is not in the Concise edition presumably because it is obsolete outside Scotland as described in SOED .

Unless you think compiler is a Scot or can find something in Chambers which suggests o I would go for a .
