An update for my friends....
If you'll all excuse the variation on the usual Q&P type thread, I'd like to once again thank all of my friends on AB that offered their best wishes to myself & my dearest friend, after she'd been diagnosed with cancer.
I promised several of you that I'd keep you informed as to what was happening, so here it is
She has primary (high-grade, inoperable) cancer of the breast & of the lymph nodes, with secondary indications on her liver & one lung.
Her consultant offered her the choice between an immediate course of chemotherapy, or hormone therapy using "Arimidex", with chemo to follow should that prove ineffectual.
LOL! She almost bit his arm off, choosing to go down Hormone Road, rather than Chemo Avenue. She's well aware that it doesn't work for everyone, & that there are side-streets that must be taken into consideration, but is content that she's made the right decision & will hear "You have arrived at your destination" just as the fireworks go off!
Her family & friends are 100% behind her, egging her on with plenty of black humour (yes, she loves it! - & I've done the "You must feel a right tit" joke) & general encouragement.
I'm allowed to say that her name is Anne - she's sitting here with me now, she's read all the wonderful messages that you posted & would like to add something of her own, so we'll post a separate thread in a little while.
For myself, to all of my friends out there, thank you you don't know me or Anne, yet your kindness & generosity of spirit continue to make me proud to be a part of this community.
