Cantare is latin for a group of singers (30A - CAROLS, carol singers?) so CANT + ARE (are is more than one) and by a stretch CANT could mean hang, even though technically it means slope or lean. Just my opinion but i also don't see where WAIT would fit except for the "hang around" bit
