MM Links Solutions January 2009 [Week 2]

This second week in the reign of Queen Meg went so smoothly that it is hard to believe that two weeks' ago she was pleading novice status! I am pleased to announce that this time her chosen links based on a Sports theme were:

Foot SOLDIER
CRYSTAL Ball
CRAZY Golf
Club CLASS

Yet another interesting collection ~ indicating a setter who could be difficult to pin down!

Before scoring the entries, I would like to commend Strix for being able to get his predictions in (in spite of sustaining a broken leg). Such is the dedication of the Shrubbery Squad! �Nuf said! Needless to say, he still failed to trouble the abacus!

In view of the clientele, I did expect the third link to fall first ~and I was not disappointed. Christiana led regulars Dinkypuzzled, lysander, cliffyg & Grenmus for a game of CRAZY GOLF for TWO POINTS each. Meanwhile paulineward came marching in with the not-so-obvious FOOT SOLDIER for another TWO POINTS.

Although there were several entrants scoring steadily on these two particular links, we had to wait until 09.14am and Entrant #24 in the familiar guise of kettledrum with her CRYSTAL BALL (borrowed from Mystic Meg) before the double points began to flow again. The last link (once again) went to the wily x-ray who travelled in by CLUB CLASS to claim the last Hit!

Of all the 41 entries received, only two people managed to score double Hits and they were SHAZZA & twix123. Therefore, I should like to nominate them as JOINT HOT SHOTS OF THE WEEK!

The League Table after this second week is:

I cannot wait to see what Queen Meg has in store for us next week.

Strix has a good buddy half way round the world and via the magic of mobile phones manages to receive the link words and have his selections posted on his behalf - I'd say he's spoilt, particularly when he phones said 'good buddy; at midnight !!!

Thanks miss meg and crofter. Joint 'Hot Shot' of the week, and 2 whole points which is 2 more than I've managed to score since the beginning of December! Will it continue?
