We set the questions for Whatquiz, and we spend days and days on each quiz, trying to write questions that are interesting and challenging but eventually do-able.
It is very disheartening to see answers freely shared on forums, as we have wasted our time as we might as well just put the answers on the forum ourselves.
It may seem just the same as asking friends or family for help, but when you have the entire internet population on your "team" we have no chance!
If every entry gets maximum score, everyone wins - so no-one wins, as we can then only pay out prizes that are barely bigger than the entry fee.
It is also unfair to people who do not use forums.
Quizmail's problem was that they struggled to write questions that could not easily be Googled, so too many people were scoring maximum points, and sharing answers on forums just makes the problem worse.
Of course people who aren't entering the quiz are not interested in the problem it causes and are only too happy to share their wisdom.
The only advantage to the quiz setters when their quiz is being discussed is that it may generate new interest and more entries, and therefore it helps if the author of the request for help includes a link to the site.
Thank you Oddboddy for trying to put our point across.

I agree with The Quiz Setters., of course and not with simple dimple who just enjoys butting in.
Quizmail was ruined. CAM/Est is ruined. GFQ/GBQ are ruined and all the other quizzes that I don't do.
The cheats ask and innocent ABers supply the answers. If they joined in these hard quizzes themselves they'd soon keep mum.
There are a lot more people objecting to quizzes being ruined these days and just by googling questions I note that I'm directed to other forum sites, as well as AB e.g. this month's GFQ.
I simply don't don't know why people need clues and hints let alone the answers.
Beverley, Seeing your quiz on AB has put me off joining because it 's no longer fair play.
