To add a thank you (if you log on a few days later) do you still add your thanks to the original post? If so can you be sure the contributor gets to see it?
Also are newcomers names always Green and when do they go to black?
Hi Ruth, your name will stay green for a month, I believe, then you'll turn black !
the majority of people say their thanks on the original post. If you create another post, it just means you're pushing someone else's question further down the page. You can also give people little red stars to the reply they have given you
The contributor usually gets to see it because if you go top left and go to 'my profile' you get options to see questions you contributed to, and most contributors do check back to see if their post was acknowledged. Generally people prefer a later acknowledgement than a 'thanks in advance' , though I'm sure they'd settle for that if the cash came too!
I think contributors are MORE likely to see your thanks on the original post cos that is where they will look for it, if at all. It is easy to see all your posts that you have posted, or that you have given answers to by going to my profile and clicking on whatever tab you want to bring up.
