I'll have a go!

It looks like an Eleanor Cross. These were crosses erected by King Edward I in honour of his late wife Eleanor of Castile marking the overnight resting places of the funeral cortege from Lincoln to London (12 days = 12 crosses).

But this isn't one of them! It's a FAKE Eleanor Cross. and this looks like the one in the village of Sledmere, East Riding. The cortege never went near Sledmere! It's a Victorian (?) fake.

So answer is = Fake Eleanor Cross, Sledmere, East Riding (Yorks).

No I'm not a genius! I recall rambling round there about 10 year or so ago and some locals telling me this cross was something special. It's marked on maps as Eleanor Cross. I smelled a rat because I remember doing a project on Eddie 1 back in primary school and this did not seem right.

And no I don't live in Sledmere! I'm a Geology teacher from N. Wales.
