Hi, I am really puzzled. Is the answer to 12)across-simon's worked with less energy, gaining agility, (11) L?S?O?E?E?S. Is it LISSOMENESS? My dictionary spells it without the first E. If 21)down is IRISH, then the only answer I can see for 27)across-like serene days in Hawaii, only stormy round cape (7). is HALCYON. If that is the case 25)down -old french coin seen here and there in Seoul (3), S?? must be SOL not SOU. But when has sol been a french coin? Please help.

12 can be spelt both ways

27 Ha + Only +C
yes the french did have a sol coin
sol is an old French coin
Wiki says

sol 2 (s l) n. An old French coin worth 12 deniers. [French, from Old French, from Late Latin solidus, solidus; see solidus.] sol
French coin is definitely SOU
I thought an old french coin was a sou..

Hi, thanks for all your replies. SOL must be correct, but it is a bad clue. 90%+ would guess SOU as it is the more well known french coin and it fits in to the clue, but not with27)across. I have also found out that there is a spelling of LISSOMENESS. Must get a better dictionary. John.
