14A: Angina
I'm going with angina because of the letters but angina doesn't seem to be anything like a quinsy - see here:-

Abcess ?
i like abcess!
changed my mind, angina!
A 'quinsy' is an abcess at the back of the throat (in the main).........

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peritonsillar_abs cess

Angina is a narrowing of the heart-muscle arteries............

No comparison, I'm afraid...............
MOS 14a Yes I think it's angina as in Vincent's angina.Angina comes from the latin to coke or throttle.
Hope this helps!
Chambers, as so often, has the answer ... "Angina: short for angina pectoris; any inflammatory affection of the throat such as quinsy, croup, etc ...,"
I'd love to know how you can spell abcess with a G & N in?
