I think this is a town or village somewhere in East Anglia - one word, no letters - "poorly sited place"

and another one while I'm here, again one word - "comfortably lined hole" I was thinking of some sort of burrow?borough? but.......
Any help greatly appreciated

Dunwich? Suffolk town that is now largely lost to the sea.

Thanks for that - nice pub in Dunwich, (the Anchor) and it hadn't crossed my mind but I'll put it on my list of possibles!
