In this quiz, all the answers have a silent letter in them. The answers are also arranged alphabetically, so the answer to this must start with either an 'F' or a 'G' or sound like an 'F' or a 'G' if the silent letter is at the beginning of the word. Can anyone help me with no18? The whole clue is : 18. 8836 (4) I have seen it answered on here as GENE and that is certainly the top answer on google , but I cannot see how it possibly could be that as there are also genes number 8835 and 8837 and so on, presumably. I would be very happy with a clue to this. I honestly do have all of the other answers and of course would be happy to give clues to anyone else. This quiz closes on April 18th, so time is getting short. Thanks in advance.

GENE would fit. It's an example of a gene.

Similarly PLANET would fit if the clue was Jupiter. Just because there are other planets, doesn't mean it is incorrect.

Well, thanks again, squarebear. I guess the E at the end is silent, but two of the other answers are tHame and rHine...which as you can see have both a silent letter, 'H' and an E at the end .
Mind you I cannot for the life of me think of anything else.
I hope someone will post the answer when this quiz closes.
