I'd go with Rollo's answer. We hear refers to disagreement ( breach ) but defined is the type of birth ( breech ).

I know it is BREECH because that's the answer that the Telegraph "Clued Up" website said was the correct answer.

Just said meant to type breech yet somehow it came out as breach. When tired keep making mistakes + sometimes say the strangest stuff yet fortunately all my friends + family + hubby know me well + understand me ( part of my neurological condition). Anyhow, tried to explain just now that Breach is for breach of agreement + Breech is for the form/type of birth + also said agree with Rollo!

But I wish the compiler would not word such "sounds like" clues in such an ambiguous way.

The "We hear" bit should be place at the beginning of the clue here, not in the middle where you could reasonably infer that the sounds like word is either of the two bits of the rest of the clue.

For sure, agree with you once again Rollo. Cannot fathom the logic of many of the clues even if can fathom the correct answer + some of the clues seem quite ambiguous to me yet am in the scheme of everything still fairly new to cryptics + learning with them all the time. Over the moon to find have all the right answers when they are printed in the papers, too. Ciao for now, time for some dinnre + rest, Bea
