FE = chemical symbol for iron, from Latin ferrum
RN: Irish vehicle registration marks are generally formed from the first and last letters of the county, as in RoscommoN, SO=Sligo, KY=Kerry - not always though - see http://www.wolfbane.com/vreg.htm
