Some confusion here as PETER ALLEN and GWYNNE EVANS were hanged simultaneously. I'm still undecided what answer to put so will probably give both names.

Surely shaley it was Arthur Shufflebottom . His wife ran off with the milkman and he hanged himself . Although I can't think why .
