For which cerebral tv programme of the 1980's was the theme music provided by two celebrated musicians performing a Duo by an 18th/19th century Italian composer. Any ideas?

Possibly "The South Bank Show" whose theme tune was a re-working by Andrew Lloyd-Webber of Rachmaninov's  "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" with his brother Julian Lloyd-Webber on cello.

I, too, am stuck on this one, but dates and music in the question are wrong for South Bank Show
