denquiz - and all you had to do was to type "charles' hiding place" into Google and the very first hit would have given you the answer. What satisfaction do you get from someone else giving you the answer on a plate?

I do appreciate your point of view, boysinblue68, but please respect that others, such as myself, have a different point of view and enjoy being part of the quizzing community on answerbank.

I know that myself and others like to swap answers with each other as part amongst the quizzing community, just like you would discuss and maybe swap an answer with your friends and family if you were stuck. I work at home and sometimes don't speak to another soul all day, so it is nice to have some communication with people who share my interests!

He had a go at me last week when I asked a question on the same quiz.. Nobody has to give an answer if they don't want, and if nobody asked anything what's the point of having the site. Must be very nice to know everything.

I think Denquiz makes a very valid point. A lot of the fun of answerbank is the interaction with other people. Googling is a very insular occupation. I dont remember why I first went on to this site but I have answered 5,000+ questions and do not regret a minute of it.

i never have regrets about the answers I give, I thought that was the whole idea of the site, to interact and help out. I know myself I can look at aclue for ages and it just doesnt come through but someone else may see it straight away .

agree with you all,i joined here 21 months ago to ask a question and found this site to be very helpful,i have learned so much since then especially the cryptic crosswords,i now have a better idea of how to solve these clues thanks to you guys,keep up the good work.

There are many, and much better ways at that, to talk to people on the net. This is not a social networking site and never will be. By being given the answer to a question, you are not interacting with anybody in any real sense whatsoever - you ask and they answer.

Boysinblue was not harassing anybody - their question is quite valid and applies to many other questioners - what satisfaction DO you get out of being given the answer? If you only get 98 out of 100 but get all the answers without coming here, is that not better than getting 100 and knowing that you have been given an answer or two when you could have found the answer yourself?

We've all heard your opinion many times before Catron. It is a Q and A site and as such people can ask what they want, and others may answer what they want. If you don't want to answer don't bother.

You have heard my views before jan1957? Yes, I know you have and you have no doubt heard those boysinblues too - but that does not mean that one is showing bad manners by giving those views again! Just because you have one view, and some share that view, does not automatically make the opposite view wrong and if we are going to mention bad manners, one could think that you are showing bad manners yourself by suggesting that boysinblue is guilty of that.

Not very nice, Mancunian? That is as much a matter for debate as are the points that boysinblue and I raise. Do you sit all day looking at what people are asking yourself? No, I thought not, so why even ask such a daft question? Boysinblue and I (and others) are just as entitled to give our opinions, and ask questions, on SOME threads as others are to ask questions.

No of course I don't sit all day looking as you don't, just exaggerating. But when I do come on to ask something or help if I can I hope I am not rude. As I have said before its a site to ask questions and hopefully get a reply or give one and if you don't agree with it just ignore us. I think anyway you are only trying to wind us up.

Yes wallacia very true in what you say, in my case its water off a ducks back like you. But some people DO get upset, and I say to them take no notice.
