What four letter word continues this sequence,   H T Q F S ----?

I thought it was 1/2, 2, 1/4, 4, 1/6 - but that would give six.

Then I thought - 1/2, 3, 1/4, 5, 1/6, but that gives seven

Then I thought 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6 but that gives seventh.

I think it's something like this but I can't get an answer with four letters.

Logically Ray is on the right track, but I cannot think of a association with seven that is only four letters (sorry Ringer, Seventh is too long).  Its not spacing in the alphabet so I am at a loss. 

I can think of a number of four letter words right now that are not the answers.

Seventh-Eighth-Ninth-Tenth first letter of each = SENT a four letter word.
