What is the term for the repetition of a phrase? I have just read on MSN that Wayne Rooney had a "temper tantum". Revert back is another example.

ITERATION ?
Tautology?
I think it is a tautology...
It was answered on your other thread http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Phrases-and-Sayings/Question809374.html as tautology.
Dictionary definition of tautology is repetition of elements of meaning already conveyed.
How does Tautology differ from Alliteration ?
Alliteration is repetition of the intial sound of the words e.g. 'shoe shine' is alliteration but not tautology.
'Temper tantrum' is not tautology either, strictly speaking.
But it is alliteration!
