For heaven's sake Damian and Sprinter. Just what is your problem? What a screwed up pair you are. This is a game - A GAME - and it's in a good cause. The more people who send the quiz in, the more money for the charity - and that is the object of the exercise. Everyone does the quiz in their own way. Some are good at it, and some are not so good - but at least everyone here is giving it a go, and if anyone is stuck for answers there's no reason they shouldn't ask Answerbank for help - but the self-appointed AB police in the form of you two object. Well, I’m sorry to disillusion you, but your opinions mean absolutely zilch! No one is spoiling the quiz for you. If you don't want to see clues - or the answers - then you are not obliged to look at the threads, but nevertheless you do. I can only assume that in your eagerness to get your sticky little mits on the paltry first prize you want as few people as possible to do well. I rarely tell anyone to ‘get a life’ - but get a life! This is not only boring - it’s truly pathetic!
Incidentally, in case you're wondering, I've finished and have already submitted my answers.

Naomi 24 So many of us agree with what you say but honestly you're wasting your time. Teacher 1 is always telling them to lay off, as I am, only to be told in one of his/her latest vitriolic messages that he/she pities me. He said that he has finished and sent his off so why is he still policing this site? You have finished but are not complaining because people are asking for clues, presumably you're just interested to see what others are still stuck on and willing to give help. I have done about 87 and I admit to getting at least 20 through help from this site. Help, not answers. It must be wonderful to be able to finish it quickly but as I have said before, we have not all got the same types of brain. I will be going to the reference library next week to try to sort out the crocodile shoes and any of the others I can. Plus, do you agree that Damien doesn't do the compilers quiz any justice by calling it an easy little quiz?
Well, clearly it says something to you, smouse, but you’re mistaken. My, what a suspicious little smouse you are. You’re absolutely right. I didn’t give any clues, but here you are. Have a couple of clues.
17. The answer is an anagram, and you’re looking for a Shakespearean character.
75. Forget sport - think of words connected with a different type of game.
Like the complainers here, I prefer to do the quiz on my own - which is why I don’t look at any of these threads until I am finished and satisfied with my answers - and then I like to see how other people are getting on. Actually, I think it’s rather nice for those who want to share this quiz with other people to be able to do so. I like the camaraderie I see here - well, until some mean-minded killjoy who can‘t accept that no one is forced to look at the threads gatecrashes and puts an unsavoury spanner in the works!
Mtsgirl, by calling it an easy little quiz, Damian is unjustifiably insulting the obviously very intelligent compilers. These are clever and beautifully constructed questions, and I don’t believe anyone who says they find them easy to solve. Clearly Damian wishes to portray himself as a genius, and achieves some sort of petty satisfaction from denigrating anyone who is honest enough to admit they need help. However, by continually haunting the threads, apparently just to complain, his agenda, and his mentality, are exposed for all to see, and so sadly he fails miserably. In short, methinks he protests too much. Got to laugh really. ;o)

I agree with all you say Naomi. It is not a nice easy little quiz, is not meant to be. I've been doing them for 11 years now and this one did at first seem even more tricky than the others although I am getting there now. I do give clues Damien, any that I can, but most of the people are asking about ones that I haven't got myself, or someone else has already answered. Of course there is nothing like the feeling you get when you answer them yourself but a lot of the time we need help, just as the compilers suggest, by using dictionaries or other means. It does seem a shame that people feel the need to be so disapproving but maybe that is their nature. As I said to someone who only recently discovered us, x-ray, we are a friendly lot here with just one or two sad exceptions. Some of the ones I am still searching for are probably very obvious to others and I can sense the sneers already from Sprinter; numbers 73 and 74 for example and 82 but I'll get there eventually. If not I just send it off anyway, with a generous cheque for the charity. Best of luck
Ignore them.
73. Look for an old fashioned word for a policeman - and to confirm that’s the word you’re looking for, google very carefully. It’s an easy word, but the meaning in this context isn’t terribly easy to find.
74. Look for a definition of Highwayman. Like 73, if you google carefully, you’ll find it.
82. Try anagramming the words in the clue. The answer is there - but you might never have heard of the word you need, so even if it seems odd, look it up.
Good luck to you too. :o)
