MM Links December (week 4)
39 Answers
This is ‘Princess Di’ (aka grannydi) summoning all AB Linkers to take up my final challenge and bring 2009 to a suitable close. May I begin by wishing one and all “A Very Merry Christmas”! I sincerely hope that you have now recovered from the excesses of yesterday, got over your hangover, put your brain in gear and are ready to pit your wits for this, the last week of my reign. I cannot believe that this is my final contribution for the month of December. I can honestly say that it’s frightening how quickly time goes, when one is enjoying oneself. After last week’s dearth of points, I command you to do a little better this week -- I like to see lots of points scored, even if it means a bit more work for crofter.
I suppose that I am now about to enter my dotage, well the kids think I have already become firmly established there! As you know, I hit 70 this year and “himself” has only just had his this month – so I’m a bit of a cradle snatcher with my “toy boy”. We still keep playing golf and enjoy our travels around the world. We try to get at least two trips away each year, the golf clubs invariably go with us, as hubby gets withdrawal symptoms if he is away from the golf course for long. In February, we are off to USA and throwing in a side trip through the Panama Canal. We are led to believe that it’s one of the best trips to undertake (we shall see). How long we will continue with such an active lifestyle, who can say? However, both our Mothers are still in the “Land of the Living” (aged 100 and 93 respectively), so we hope to be getting out and about for quite a while yet.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.We continue to enjoy the company of our two children and four granddaughters (two each) – as yet no grandsons, but never mind. They are growing up fast and ages range from 6 to 13 years (at the end of this month). Child minding is usually on the menu, especially when work or illness interferes with the normal running of their lives -- or if the parents want to get away for a break.
Now we are firmly into the festive season, I am spending this Christmas with my Mother in Leicestershire, together with my sister and brother and their respective spouses. My daughter and her family are coming up from Oxfordshire today,( the roulade is made and the beef in the oven), and my son will be with his wife’s family. It will be a fun time for the young children, and I am sure that the adults will also enjoy themselves without too much of a hangover. I love to see the festive lights and decorations in all the houses (and even outside in the gardens). Some people really go to town with their outside decorations. I dread to think how much it adds to their electricity bill!

I have fond memories of a Christmas spent in Melbourne a few years ago. We had gone out to Oz for the wedding of our Best Man’s youngest son. We were all invited to the Bride’s parents’ house on Christmas Day. No worries about getting there we were told; just get on the train and it’s FREE. Seekeerz will probably know about this, I’m sure. The trains were on time, busy and full of celebrating Australians as well as a few Brits. The trains were staffed by volunteers (mainly non-Christians) and they get time off in lieu for their special religious festivals at other times of the year. What a splendid idea! Can you imagine that happening in the UK? Oh no! We have to close everything down, to the great inconvenience of those who have to work over the Christmas break. We had a lovely day and it was quite an experience spending Christmas Day soaking up the wonderful sunshine.
Finally, a sincere “Thank You” to crofter, who has guided me through the mysteries of MM links. Without his help, this would have been a non-starter. He has been very patient with me, proof reading my prose and suggesting alternatives as well as doing the postings when my broadband was causing problems. Just in case paulineward manages to log on, I’m sure I speak for you all when I wish her a very rapid return to health. We have been thinking of you over the last few weeks. “Good Luck” with the next treatment – and just remember the MM Links motto: Illegitimi non carborundum!

Down to the business in hand! As far as my MM Links are concerned, as always I shall follow the rule on word length adopted by crofter. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when crofter shall disclose my final set of selected words, then apply the same rules for awarding points that have been applied during all MM Link Games in the past.
My final set of four words to have their links predicted will appear below at 9.00am.
