You don't say if this is a straight clue or a cryptic clue?

Hi gen2, Crossword is a mixture but not sure what difference it makes as the answer always follows the clue.

There is a big difference claret&blue

In straight clues, the WHOLE clue leads to the answer.
In cryptic clues, the definition is at the start or the end and the rest of the clue gives a second way of arriving at the answer.

Here, I was thinking the definition is 'Most effective' = TELLING (as in 'a telling remark'
The second part 'way of using information', could also be TELLING, ie passing on information.

BTW It would be really strange if the clue always followed the answers! lol

Hi gen2, I realised after I posted that I should have said relates to the clue as opposed to follows.Either way you have only come up with one answer which seems to be the correct one anyway.Do you have another one in mind? Thanks for your help
