We are hoping to put together a complete directory of all crosswords, puzzles and quizzes which The AnswerBank users participate in.
We wondered if you could help our list along, if you could let us know the paper you receive and the names of the crosswords in it we'd very very grateful. We have started a list, but this doesn't include any of the local quizzes or papers. Submit your below and we'll add it to the list.
We hope this directory will be helpful for new quizzers as well as those looking for some fresh print!
If you wish to submit an annual quiz run in your area, let us know where it is being run, when it usually runs and any other relevant information.
We have, so far:
Daily Papers:
The Daily Mail
The Times
The Telegraph
The Independent
The Express
The Guardian
The Financial Time
Weekend Papers:
The Mail on Sunday
The Sunday Times
The Observer
The Financial Times Weekend
The Sunday Express
Magazines:
The Spectator
New Statesman
Private Eye
We know this is less than exhaustive, but with your help we'll get there!
"You already have a crosswords subtopic and people usually can't be bothered to post in there, putting them into Q&P instead, so having separate sections for the different papers is unlikely to work, good idea though it is"
Actually I have never understood the difference between the two and where it is proper to post. So please make them completely different headings or only the one. Don't complicate things.
Has anyone mentioned LOVATTS crosswords? I don't know which publication they are from. I love a Lovatts question on AB because the letters supplied by posters are almost always wrong. I still remember the wonderful TAGUS thread.
Express & Star various competitions ,and the saturday prize crossword
What's Brewing monthly crossword
Fullers brewery competition
Weatherspoons magazine crossword and competitions
Various surveys that offer prizes for the completion of the list
If you are going to create a puzzle directory, please bear in mind that some publications have more than one (cryptic) puzzle. For example The Observer has the Everyman and Azed puzzles, while the Saturday edition of The TImes offers The Listener puzzle in addition to its regular cryptic puzzle; it used to have a jumbo cryptic puzzle on Saturdays as well and may still do (it has been a while since I have seen a Saturday edition of The Times).
