Horace Bachelor's famous Infra-Draw method as advertised on Radio Luxembourg in the 1960s.

Kennsham, spelt K E Y N S H A M, Bristol
2. Branscombe
4 is KEYNSHAM - there used to be a man called Horace Batchelor on Radio Luxembourg (1960s) who advertised a great way of winning on the football pools. He lived in Keynsham - he used to spell it out every time the advert came on, as you had to write to him to get his "method"! Wow - a blast from the past!
LOL, too many of us are "of a certain vintage" and had a mis-spent youth.
Hi gen2 that takes me back...I'm sure Mr Bachelor must have been a fine old gentleman but his voice gave me the creeps
Radio Luxembourg really used to annoyme - it would fade away right in the middle of a great song, and then come back and play Horace's advert. right through as clear as a bell
Hi JMR27, it is about the only advert that I remember from those Radio Luxembourg days.

If his method was as good as he claimed, why didn't he keep it to himself and make a killing on the pools? It had to be a duff system if the only way he could make money out of it was to sell it to others. I wonder how many were taken in? Maybe I should take a look at your (JMR27's) link.
It says on one of the links (from JMR's link) that HB sponsored the Top 20 show each week - no wonder so many of us heard him! (and sorry, Shoni, the HB memory club has rather overtaken your thread at the moment!)
Just found this:
Horace Bachelor was a famous Luxembourg name. His 'Infra-draw' method promised football pool success and his producer George Harman and I were convinced there must be something in his method as he regularly won dividends himself every week. Horace did his own voice over adverts. His winning lines were always on cheaper pools (farthing a line) and often his permutation investments exceeded his winnings. But, he could always say, truthfully, 'last week I won two first dividends and six second dividends' Vivian Gale, our very posh sound technician once gave Horace the name of his (Harley Street) dentist as Horace emitted a whistle on certain words. Horace merely boarded his waiting chauffeured Rolls Royce with a smile.
He musn't have been short of a bob or two... lol
