For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.sprinter53. You ask where did I get my 'so-called' quote from. Here is the simple answer.
Bill Maclagan, compiler of the quiz, does not use email, and has given permission for someone else to publicise the GFQ and GBQ. You will find the link here
http://www.bollands.demon.co.uk/gbq/mainf.htm
Click on Description and Entry Fees (top left corner) and you will see the quote.
Then look on the left again, lower down and you will see this quote:
Please Note: I do not set the quiz (I'm just another competitor, but I have permission from the organizer to put it on the net).
Incidentally, if you put Great Brain Quiz or Great Fun Quiz into Google you will often be referred to AnswerBank.
That says it all really.
And yes, when someone asks for help on here, I will gladly help if I can.

What have I missed? This is supposed to be a Q & A forum on a wide range of topics, one of which is called "Quizzes & Puzzles". So, in a supposed free world, who has the right to pose a series of questions in a big quizz and then say you should be restricted to non-internet sources to solve them? It's a bit like saying you shouldn't collaborate with your mates at work when doing the cryptic prize crossword.

It is quite simple - You have a right to ask anything to want here (as long as it isn't offensive and doesn't transgress Site Rules).
Equally you have the right to complain when someone does something you don't like.
Regardless of the wishes of the setter this is the reality of the situation.

And as ever nobody can give anything remotely like a valid reason why it's OK to ignore the views of the quiz setter and nevertheless ask questions from the quiz. The fact that this is a Q&A site is totally irrelevant in that context. So go on AB Editor, Daily-Editor, lilsecret or McMouse, please provide a valid reason. The only reason I can think of for your inability to do so is simply that you don't have one.
pulse - you have now become repetitively boring. Do you also fervently 'police' the Yahoo! site which allows users to seek GFQ and GBQ answers?

Very grown up of you bibblebub. Now try actually answering the question as to why it is reasonable to ignore the views of the quiz setter. Perhaps you should ask that one on Twitter as well because you (and all the others with similar views) don't seem to be able to answer it yourselves so likely need help to do so.
pulse - it is you who is having difficulty with this issue.
It IS reasonable to ignore the alleged views of the quiz setter simply because there is no link to prove your claims, there is no request by the compiler on his website, there is no proof that Bill Maclagan (quiz setter) has contacted AnswerBank Editor about thi issue. All we are getting on here is your perpetual twittering and ranting that we are considered to be cheating.

I don't care what the answer is because I don't do your piddling little quiz. I posted it on Twitter simply to aggravate you because that's what you deserve - your indignation all because of a little quiz is risible. The views of the quiz setter is just for you and your little gang, they are of no relevance to anyone else who uses AB legitimately.

sprinter - please relish in your delight as it is extremely doubtful you will be successful in 'policing' AnswerBank.
Regardless of the wishes of the setter; regardless of your efforts and those of your compatriots, AnswerBank will remain a Q&A site - this is the reality of the situation.
PS: Don’t forget to put your stamp on the Absolute Astronomy site as emeritus mentioned earlier. Good luck . . . and goodbye.

Dear Sprinter53, Sorry to disappoint you, but I posted the question on yahoo answers and as I have now found the answer I have deleted it. I also posted it on absolute astronomy. A friend phoned me tonight with the answer which I am certain is correct.
I am always happy to give a HINT as I have asked for several myself, and would advise you to consult a medic.
