boxtops and Dinkypuzzled. Norther Ireland was my birthplace many many years ago and I've never once heard the word Shire used to describe the manner in which the division of the two countries were separated. Well, well. We learn something new wevery day. Thanks a lot to both of you.
I was meaning - Dumfriesshire, Wigtonshire, Kirkcudbrightshire, Ayrshire etc.
(that type of division - we now call them 'regions' )
