It's not making sense - I don't think you can have a percentage of nothing. What is 27.27 supposed to be a percentage of? If the original problem was to express 11 as a percentage of 300 then the answer would be 3.7%.
The way you obtain a percentage with the figures you speak of is 11 /300 x 100/1, or at least that's how I was always taught in school

11 divided by 300 = 0.0366666 (recurring)

Multiply 0.0366666 by 100 et voila = 3.66666 (recurring), or 3.7% if you're rounding to the nearest 10th of a percent.

'I got that by dividing 11 into 300'

Why?

300/11 as a percentage is

300/11 x 100 = 2727.27 %

which would make sense if, say, you were talking about an item that cost 11 to make but sold for 300 you could say there's a 2727% mark-up.

You'll have to explain what you are trying to work out if you want the correct answer.

Blaah,I'm sorry,I wasn't making any sense.I've figured it out though.I was uneccessarily turning 30 into 300,making my answer a decimal with numbers that couldn't be changed into a percentage(272%?!)Instead I got 27%,which makes much more sense. Thanks for your comments,though,keen2learn andDave Potts,if I had been doing it right, they would have been dead useful.(I feel so stoopid)
