Is that all of the information? Is this perhaps a quiz about waterways, lakes or something similar?
A knight's defence could be a shield. Knock off the 'd' (for an old penny) and you're left with 'Shiel', which is a Scottish loch. But if the question doesn't relate to lakes, that's probably not very helpful! ;-)
