Can someone please tell me where I've gone wrong?

I've got ?a?n?a?e but cannot find a word which fits this clue. I have probably gone wrong on other solutions as follows: 13d vanilla; 14d present; 17d amend; and 18d asset;.

Thanks 'another view' and 'jimjewels' - I am sure 'quandary' must be right and my guess at 'present' becomes 'payment' which fits the clue 'reward'. However, this leaves me with a problem at 17d 'alter greatly' which now begins with a 'u' and where I previously had 'amend' as the answer to 'alter greatly'. I'm beginning to suspect that there might be a 'setting' error and that 'amend' was the intended solution but not beginning with a 'u'!!

What about UPEND for 17d .......... would that fit?
