Is it showing when you click on 'my profile'? If not then it won't appear on questions you post. So it's worth checking your profile rather than testing via a posting

Have you been in the My Profile Edit Details and ticked the invisible box to activate your avatar and then pressed the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page?

Click anywhere on the line that says "your avatar is inactive". The box is actually about 0.5cm to the left of the word "Your" but I found it sufficient to click anywhere on that line

thanks for your comments , and thanks to my son .hes the one who managed it . I thought a bluebird was too obvious so opted for the muppet chef , "hurdy gurdy".
