I'm rubbish in this Q&P section but, just for once, I think that I've actually worked out an answer!

A gale is a 'severe blow'.

While english men are 'Mr', french men are simply 'M'

Sick = ill

And the BBC website lists this place as the subject of a 2004 edition of 'Restoration':
