I'm probably being really dense here, but how is 'Ascot' the answer to no. 10?
an ascot is a hat, a racecourse, and a town.
An Ascot is a cravat
how about derby?
Thanks! I didn't know that an ascot was a hat! But I do now!
Am sure it is not a hat. (Ascot that is)
I stand corrected , but my crossword dictionary has
ascot listed as a hat.
Interesting V.

Ascot's and Derby's are both hats so could be either?
Is derby a famous racecourse?
I can only think of the Epsom Derby. But the clue does not mention 'racecourse' just 'racegoer'.
I would think either Ascot or Derby should be accepted for this. Both are hats and to do with jockeys/racegoers. The Derby is a horserace rather than a course.
I think the answer to no.10 is Derby because the clue says Headgear for 4 and the clue for 4 is Mopes around the race track which Is an anagram for Epsom and the Derby is run at Epsom what do you think?
Oh well if it says headgear for 4 then yes it is definitely DERBY. The question setter appears to have got the question incorrect.

It is important that anyone asking for help, provides accurate questions. Some details may be small but they are all important to finding the answer.
