Hi soo50 - Bare Bones is a "skeleton" type of crossword, where the blank squares also have to be filled in, so it's not always possible for a Q'er to include the numbers of letters :-)

thanks to you all , running for the 4.45pm post now-well, ambling actually -don't (can't) "do" run
Thanks Lie in King. I know the skeleton crossword, but you can usually get about 10 - 12 blanks filled in before tackling the words, so just thought there would be a rough idea of if it was a long or short word. ;-)
