Ab Quiz Night

TheOtherHalf had a great idea of having an AB quiz night. Unfortunately, the thread has slipped down to the depths of the quiz section and so nobody is aware of it. I just wanted to draw your attention to the thread.

Could I ask that any interested parties form teams of about 4 people each. If you have no preferences who you play for, let me know here and I will allocate you to a team. I believe the easiest way for you to talk to each other without seeing each other's answers is for you to have a separate section of a forum.
I see no way to do this on answerbank (unless the ED can help) so I will suggest you register to http://triviasquares.proboards.com/index.cgi which is a forum I use on another quiz site.

This way, I can limit you to only look at the section you are allocated to so no peeping over the other teams' shoulders :-)

In the meantime, I will put together say 30 questions on various subjects and formats and put a link to them here. The teams should look/listen to the questions then confer with each other via the forum before selecting their answers.

Once I have all the team's entries, I will post them here and mark them. The winner will be the team with the most correct. In the event of a tie, we shall have a tie break question which the tieing teams should discuss and the captain inform me of their answer.

We are thinking of playing this tomorrow (Friday) night probably about 7 or 8pm.

Does this sound ok? I am open to any improvements/suggestions.

I would love to sign up and feel awful not doing so after suggesting it in the first place , but as I mentioned earlier our new comp at home is playing up and I cant seem to get onto a lot of sites, including this one and I dont know if it will be ready by Friday night

Hi sb, can i just ask, if we can't make the date of the quiz, will that matter? I mean if you allocate me to a team and I then can't make it am I letting people down or will it still go ahead if there's at least 4 people?

Also will we get an email about when it starts or should we just check on here?

You wont know who is cheating. People will just look things up on net, and I hate cheaters. They'll be no challenge in it.

If the Ed keeps this sticky for a couple of days that should help with the numbers. Some people only come on in the evenings. I've put a thread up on Chatterbank as well.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the views expounded by 4getmenot ... how can quizzers be prevented from using search machines to find all of the answers on the internet?

The questions are either picture based or music/sound based. It will be hard for anyone to use google to look up things they don't know.

For example one question might be, "Which company uses this logo" or "What was this man the first to do". It should stop people from using google.

I'm easy about the start time. I will give you a link to the questions and you can check them out whenever you like. You can even take the whole Bank Holiday weekend to work on it if you like. As long as your team submits their answers, the time limit is flexible as far as I am concerned. I was thinking of giving you all the link about 7pm on Friday if that's ok with everyone?
