MM Links Solutions September 2010 [Week 2]
10 Answers
Last week, I described The Lady Radley (aka Handbaglady) as being “evasive” ~ just how evasive we were to find out. This week, she lodged her MM Links under “Weather”! Nevertheless, she was eventually tracked down and her second round entitled “It’s a Dog’s Life!” got underway at 09.30am for which she chose the link words:
Dog COLLAR
Brush FIRE
Cold COMFORT
Nose FLUTE
Perhaps it was RAINING cats and DOGS at the time (hence lodging her MM Links under “Weather”). In view of this distraction, I have decided to extend the two-minute rule to apply a 30-minute rule.

Beginning with roslyn251254’s DOG COLLAR, then slaney’s COLD COMFORT and finally the NOSE FLUTE of ulysses100, three lots of TWO POINTS went within the first four entrants (and with the clock reading 09.35am). For this game only, I was prepared to award bonus points to any correct prediction by 10.05am.
Within this wide window of opportunity, no fewer than five entrants picked up Two Points for their “Cold Comfort”. They were lysander, cliffyg, Christiana, BigMac & barb7771. Also to cash in was patchett with another Dog Collar. Betwixt these successes, Aquagility put out a BRUSH FIRE to claim the last link for TWO POINTS.
As the game ticked on, single points were picked up by mirandasmum, Elspeth, x-ray & Magyar ~ slim pickings indeed! However, my eye was caught by grannydi’s entry, in which she lodged two correct predictions (for only Two Points). As the only player with two hits, I have pleasure in nominating grannydi as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK!

*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***

The League Table after this second week is:
TWO POINTS: Aquagility, barb7771, BertOnt-ice, BigMac, Christiana, cliffyg, Dinkypuzzled, grandaddyjohn, grannydi, joto, lysander, patchett, roslyn251254, slaney & ulysses100
ONE POINT: boxtops, Elspeth, ladyalex, Magyar, mirandasmum & x-ray
So far, no-one has been able to score during both rounds and hence the field is tightly bunched. The game is well set for someone making a sprint finish.
With a bit of luck, Round 3 should kick off on time and in the correct section of AnswerBank!
For the present, this is crofter signing off.

Thank you, crofter, for making me 'hot shot of the week'. I must admit that I missed the 9.00a.m. 'tee-off' as I was busy with the 2 youngest grand daughters and then I couldn't find it and spent the next 2 hours laying some lawn before taking a break and eventually finding the post.
Thanks handbaglady and crofter, see you next week.
Thanks handbaglady and crofter, see you next week.
Thank you Crofter and TotepurseWoman,
You had me worried yesterday morning when the back-up didn't materialise! Needn't have worried though as 'Nul points' was all I was worth, which added to last week's score still equals 0!
Handbags and dogs? Next week I predict Chihuahuas? . . . so maybe Miniature, Mecican, Pepper and Corn?
Maybe not.
