i have been running pub quizzes in my area for about 15 years and need a few ideas of how to freshen things up, in most pubs the same old teams win and it would be nice to have a system in place where this is not the case. winning teams will still get prize money but i need a way of letting the regular non winners being able to win some money, any ideas will be taken on board, thanks in advance.

The quiz-setter decided to even things up and added another round of questions. The questions were multiple choice (more like multiple guess!!) and were questions that no-one could possibly know the answers; to but you could try and make some kind of educated guess.
Some of the questions were along the lines of "most number of baked beans eaten in 1 minute using only a tooth pick!"
They were multiple choice so everyone had a chance of possibly catching the leaders up.
It added to the fun as well, as some of the questions were absolutely hilarious - so it was fun watching everyone trying to work them out :o)

Introduce a rule that a team winning in 2 consecutive weeks gets a 5 or 10 point penalty next time they play (not next week otherwise they may not turn up) If they still win then fair enough - they are just cleverer!!
Find out if they have a weak subject (eg sport or films) and put in extra questions on that subject one week

My local pub used to run a weekly quiz called 'Quiz-Go' in which all entrants were given a sheet similar to a bingo card consisting of rows of 'balls' each with a different number inside on which to write the answers. The winner was the one who had a row of correct answers going from left to right (straight across or diagonally up and down) similar to the blockbuster TV game from a few years ago.
You might know all the answers but that doesn't guarantee you winning.
I think that the company who used to provide the sheets have now gone out of business but I have an excel programme that prints a similar sheet (with different randomly generated numbers) that I could e-mail to you to have a look at if you wish.
