Bren Guns
Bren guns
A sten gun is also a light 9 mm sub-machine gun ?
You're right - however, the S Exp tends to use Collins Dictionary for its definitions & 'Bren gun' has the "World War II" reference & 'Sten gun' doesn't, hence my choice of answer...
Thankyou Lie-in King
The Bren gun uses 7.66 mm ammo.
Quite right, geo - I didn't see that part of the clue for looking!

I believe I'll change my answer now...
The Sten (or Sten gun) was a family of British 9 mm submachine guns used extensively by British and Commonwealth forces throughout World War II and the Korean War.
Yes Sten Guns appears to be correct, rather than my initial Answer of Bren !

Thanks for your imput guys...i`m very much obliged.
Sten for sure. The Bren never used 9mm ammo. Although they did sometimes use .303 -- the ones I was given for army training in the 1950s, anyway. As for the Sten, you had to hold them very firmly. They had a habit of taking you over if you didn't.
