The 'John' who 'took his porridge' sounds like someone who was in jail - what about John Stonehouse (though I don't see how the rest of the clue fits). 26. Look for racecourses that are, or contain, surnames. Ripon is one, but I only know of a Geoffrey Ripon. 28. Possibly a pre-decimal coin? Or something else which is now obsolete? Sorry, that's all I can come up with at the moment.
