Well, I'm not sure that any of the following will help, but the modern French word for toys is 'jouets', from the verb 'jouer' which means 'to play', hence cognate with our word 'plaything'. They express the concept of 'toy' as an adjective by using 'petit', so a 'toy soldier' would be 'un petit soldat', etc.
I'm not aware of an Old French word for this, as the whole notion of 'toys' is a reasonably modern one anyway...
