Yep ... Christmas is almost here ... Kate has presented us with her Christmas present !!! and the links game is in total confusion as usual as the 'silly season' starts to have it's effect.

As always, I've not much idea what to do with this little bunch - maybe you have -

White Christmas
Winter Wonderland
The Christmas Song
Merry Little Christmas

well, everyone is more than welcome to try their hand and as usual, you have till midnight Sunday to lodge an entry and then I'll have the fun of trying to score it all on Monday.

Given that I understand the Daily Telegraph will not be published on Christmas Day, I think we'll call it quits for this year after Monday's results are published, however I'll be brave and start at the beginning of the New Year, so there'll be only one weekend to amuse yourselves and I figure you'll all be too busy to even miss it

So before you all head off on holidays, have a fabulous Christmas and I wish you all the best for the New Year ............ Steff

A merry Christmas to everyone, and prayers for uneventful journeys for all those of us who have to travel.
I think if I were setting these links I'd just go for the surnames. So just as a bit of fun, I think I'd have
(9a) City in Germany divided by a wall between 1961 and 1989
(68a) - Levin, journalist and broadcaster
(74a) 'Disgusted of Tunbridge - ', author of letters to the Times
(55d) - Luther, leader of the Protestant Reformation

...and we'll see on Monday how completely wrong I am!

Thanks for your concern, LaneyB. They're due to arrive on Monday lunchtime, and at the moment the forecast for Birmingham airport is OK for the next three days, but anything can happen. I've got everything crossed (very uncomfortable!)

Very best wishes for Christmas to everyone.
Jill
And so, I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it's been said many times, many ways,
Merry Christmas to you.
I think it could singers they are looking for - I would go for

Bing Crosby
Johnny Mathis
Nat King Cole
Frank Sinatra

But then again it could be any thing.

Thanks for all you Steff - I hope you and yours have a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and I'll see you in the New Year.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all.

Jools & Jim
Steff - thank you for all of your hard work through the year, and enjoy the barbie on the beach, or whatever you have planned, on Christmas Day.
At the rate the snow is coming down here we'll have a White Christmas all right, although it takes the edge off the Wonderland when you have slip and slide all over the place to take hay to the sheep, so it remains to wish everyone a Merry Huge Christmas and have a Christmas Song or two...Cheers!!
We would like to wish all KM linkers a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
We are supposed to be flying to Aberdeen on Thursday so we are keeping our fingers crossed !!!
It's a bit late to add my thanks to Steff for all her hard work on our behalf - its all been said. Neverless, I'd like to add my ha'p'orth. And to wish all friends in AB a Happy Christmas - and to each of you all you need through 2011.
Aq.
Think I will also give it a miss this weekend. Thanks Steff and wishing you and yours a Very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Healthy 2011 from a snowy, very cold Hertfordshire

What a finish to the year with the links. Bet Kate doesn't realise what she's done to us linkers. Health, happiness and peace to all for Christmas 2010. Prayers will be said for all linkers over the holiday period. Safe journeys for each and everyone one of you who have to travel.
White Christmas - Irving Berlin
Winter Wonderland - Felix Bernard
The Christmas Story - Mel Torme & Bob Walls
Merry Little Christmas - Hugh Martin
Don't know if I've guessed correctly as to what is required by Kate. Good luck Seekeerz on Monday with scoring.
Just noticed at the bottom of crossword page you can subscribe free for seven days to get next Saturday's crossword. Remember to unsubscribe during the seven days free. I've never done it before so I'll give it a go next weekend. Good luck.
Morning all from a fairly white East Kent. Sudden blizzard this morning as I was halfway up the road to go and get the papers!

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to everyone. Thanks to Seekerz for the abacus! Like many, we will give it a miss for the next 2 weeks - not a lot of point in displaying that we can all use Google!

Gill and Jean
I would like to add my good wishes for a peaceful Christmas and a happy new year. to everyone on Answer Bank. Special thanks to Steff for her unstinting devotion to duty.
Here in the frozen north we are waiting for the snow............ Take care everyone.
Merry Christmas to you Steff and many thanks for all your work during the year.
To our fellow linkers we also extend best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
Very Merry Christmas from a snowy North West London.
Husband and son had been given tickets for the match at Stanford Bridge tomorrow by a generous Chelsea supporting friend. Son now inconsolable as was his 14th birthday treat. (: - (
See you all in the New Year.

Merry Christmas and a Guid New Year to all the KM and MM linkers. (and all ABers really)

I'm not even going to attempt the links this week!
Thanks to seekeerz for all her work on the abacus.
Happy Christmas to you all.
We have finally made it home after a 10 hour journey that took less than an hour yesterday! Nightmare.
Thanks Steff from a snowy West Kent. I'm sure that you'll have a good Christmas the way the Test Match is going!

We await to see how Kate expects us to enter joint composers of some of the songs!!

May you all have a peaceful Christmas and a very happy New Year.
I would just like to add our thanks to Steff for her hard work all year totting up and allocating all the points, and to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Having had my moan on your earlier listing about three hours to drive and walk four miles in snowy Essex yesterday, I have had another 30 minute walk to collect the car, now the roads have improved - the main ones, yes. Now I am in a better mood, I would like to take this opportunity to wish seekeerz and all linkers (even cliffyg) a very happy Christmas and a safe and healthy happy New Year.
Its all too confusing for me, so I will see what Monday brings and try and work it out then. In the meantime Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all,
