MM links January 2011 (Week 2)
51 Answers
Good morning MM Linkers. This is Queen Christiana (the Cheerful One) looking forward to setting Week 2 of the January links. Last Saturday, I decided to “Accentuate the Positive”. This week, I’m hoping to inject a modicum of reality, whilst still finding a source for humour. I recently found the following gem, written by Julie Andrews and performed by her at Manhattan’s Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP and to commemorate her 70th birthday.
She sang it to the music of “My Favourite Things” from the legendary film “The Sound of Music”. The lyrics work best, when sung to this song and they DO say that music is good for the soul!

“Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads, hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favourite things.
Chorus: When the joints ache, when the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim
Then I remember the great life I’ve had
And then I don’t feel so bad ….”
Perhaps not all the above will help us to feel positive, but the principle is a good one.

As far as playing the MM Links game is concerned, I shall follow the rules relating the word length as introduced by crofter. Each of my chosen link words contains at least four letters and at most eight. Stray outside this range and you will be wasting one or more of your attempts! Each of my selected words may go in front of or after my challenge word. The competition will officially close at 7.00pm on Sunday evening when my selected words will be declared, and points awarded by crofter in the usual manner. My second set of words to be linked should appear below at 9.00am.
